20 Delicious Coffee Morning Recipe Ideas (2024)

Home » The Food Calendar » 20 Delicious Coffee Morning Recipes & #TheFoodCalendar September 2016

It’s time to let you know what’s in The Food Calendar for September. I’m struggling to believe we’re already into September, my boys will be back at school next week and I feel as though I’ve not done half of the things I planned to do during the summer holidays. That said anyone taking a look at my Instagram Stories will have noticed we’ve managedplenty of trips to the beach and our local park for picnics so I feel we really made the most of the sunshine.

One of the things I look forward to in the Autumn term is the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning (this year it’s on the 30th September), it’s the perfect excuse to bake a cake and catch up with some of the parents and grandparents from school over a cup of tea. If you’re going along to one (or any other coffee morning/bake sale for that matter) and you’re not sure what to make then here’s some delicious recipe inspiration for you.

Hi, would love to make the Chocolate Orange Marbled Cupcakes but the link keeps taking me to a Gateau au Citron recipe. HELP! 🙂 x

Saw these recipes and those pictures are making my mouth water! Coffee and cake is hard to beat – especially with a decent brew and recipes as good as these. We love a good flapjack with our coffee, although those chocolate-covered ones do look a little decadent.

I wonder if we should look at matching up different varieties of coffee with these recipes – like they do with wine for different meals? The cakes probably taste great with all our coffees, but at least it would give us an excuse to try them all!

I love the Tiramisu cake (roll), we make Tiramisu quite often at home (kids love it) but I never thought of doing it as a roll before. Excellent idea, I love the presentation, thank you for sharing.

I’m not much of a baker (more of an eater!), but these look amazing, especially Jess’s lemon drizzle cake. Reminds me of being a kid and getting home from school!

Thanks for sharing these – I’m not sure it’s going to end up like the photo’s but going to give it a go!

Of course that’s fine. I meant to add it on but I forgot 🙂

Forgetting is often my downfall – thankfully there are numerous pens and paper around the house so I can write things down as I think of them 🙂
Just linked up my Chocolate & Pepsi cupcakes too 🙂

    • Charlotte Oates says

Chocolate and Pepsi, that sounds intriguing!

  11. Kate - gluten free alchemist says

Love the additional themed round up Charlotte. Great idea! And thanks so much for including my vegan-GF chocolate cakes! I loved that recipe and will make it for any vegan or egg-intolerant person who comes to tea! Perfect for a coffee morning for sure and helps to cater for everyone!! xx

Thanks Kate, I’m glad you like the new roundup. I’d been trying to think of something relevant to the coming month that could feature some linked posts for a while, I hope this works for everyone. Your chocolate cakes look so good, I’m looking forward to finding an event I can try them out at 🙂

  12. Midge says

They do don’t they! I’m still decided what I’m going to make for the Macmillan Coffee Morning this year.

Wow! What a lot of lovely coffee morning recipes!! Thank you so much for including my coffee and walnut cupcakes – though slightly ashamed at the photography now! Funny as I remember being really pleased with this shot at the time…but it’s incredible how much you improve in a short space of time (and how perfectionist you get!) Still have a long way to go to reach your standards mind…and I know that if I ever get there, you will be even better by then! 😉 Lots to choose from in September, so I’m sure I will have a few things to link up this month 🙂 Eb x

The feeling of wanting to do things better will never go away – sorry. There’s very few of my pictures that I don’t want to go back and redo at some point. Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got to link up 🙂

    • Eb Gargano / easypeasyfoodie.com says

Yes I can’t imagine it will! I’m far too much of a perfectionist to ever be satisfied with my photography (or anything!!!). Today I am linking up my Moroccan Lamb Traybake for Love Lamb Week and Organic September (I used organic lamb) – though it would probably fit with Red Tractor Week and British Food Fortnight too (the lamb was British and Red Tractor). Gutted I didn’t serve it on rice!! 😉

    • Charlotte Oates says

Only 4 events in one dish – you need to try harder 🙂

    • Eb Gargano / easypeasyfoodie.com says

I know, I know, standards have slipped somewhat during the summer holidays… 😉 But the kids go back to school tomorrow so I can spend the whole day working on my Organic Lamb, Chocolate and Coffee Sourdough Cupcakes made with rice flour and featuring only Scottish (and therefore British) Red Tractor products…which I will duly serve at a coffee morning 😉

    • Charlotte Oates says

Well that’s an impressive number of days covered but I have to say they sound pretty revolting 🙂

    • Eb Gargano / easypeasyfoodie.com says

Yeah – and not very easy peasy either! 😉

    • Charlotte Oates says

Surely making it easy peasy is just another part of the challenge 🙂

  15. Jacqui says

Hi Charlotte I realised I have already linked up my sourdough bread for real bread week back in May. I s it allowed to link up again. Please delete if not – I have updated the linky badge on the page.

    • Charlotte Oates says

I prefer things to only be linked up once but I won’t come and shout at anyone if they forget and link up twice, obviously I won’t come and leave another comments but I’ll still share xx

    • Jacqui Bellefontaine says

I’ll try not to do it again. Up until this time I have only linked up new content (partly as I don’t have much yet) but I’m just so keen to spread the word about making your own bread especially sourdoughs I just got carrie away:)

    • Charlotte Oates says

Thanks Jacqui, I’ve never mentioned it in the rules (because I want to keep them simple and not too bossy 🙂 ) but I think I’ll mention it next month as I’ve had a few duplicates this month.

    • Jacqui Bellefontaine says

I’ve now added a new recipe I published today for Organic September. Love this linky and the Calendar is so useful Thank you.

    • Charlotte Oates says

Thanks Jacqui, I’ll be over for a look in a bit x

  16. Jacqui says

A big thank you for including me in your round up. This is the first time I have been included in a round up and you have added not one but two of my recipes, which is so very kind of you and has really made my day.
I really enjoy adding to your linky and shall link up my easy sourdough recipe for sourdough september.
    Thanks again.

Thanks Jacqui, making your day has made my day 🙂 I’ve been trying to think of how to include a roundup for a while which made sense for the days coming up rather than looking back towards the events that have already finished. Hopefully it’s worked well this month and I’ll do something similar again in October.
